Meet Kim

Dr Kim Gordon is a Naarm/Melbourne-based researcher, writer and speaker whose work explores identity, belonging and culture.

Drawing on both academic expertise and lived experience as a neurodivergent woman from a diasporic mixed-race background, Kim speaks and writes about the ways people navigate difference, belonging and systems that were not designed with all minds in mind.

With a polymath background spanning research, teaching, project management and creative practice, Kim has worked across universities, government, community organisations and transdisciplinary partnerships throughout Australia, the Pacific, Asia and Europe. She has a PhD in literature from the University of Sydney, a Masters in sustainable heritage development and management from the Australian National University specialising in intangible cultural heritage, and a Masters in gender and intersectionality from Linköping University, Sweden.

Kim’s current work bridges critical theory with real-world application, with a particular focus on inclusion, epistemic justice and systems change. She is affiliated with RMIT University, where she has worked across interdisciplinary research partnerships, climate resilience initiatives and teaching literature & creative writing. Her teaching and research draw from intersectional feminist and gender studies, environmental humanities and contemporary approaches to embodiment and difference.

An engaging and thoughtful communicator, Kim is increasingly sought after as a speaker and facilitator on neurodiversity, gender, lived experience and inclusive practice.

She brings a rare combination of intellectual depth, warmth, systems thinking and personal insight to conversations about how we build more inclusive communities, workplaces and institutions.
